CAMPSITE IN SAINT-GAUDENS

A dynamic town in the heart of the Comminges and at the foot of the central Pyrenees

Populated since Antiquity (Iron Age, Roman period), and initially called Mas-Saint-Pierre, the town takes its current name from the martyrdom of Gaudens, a young shepherd who fell victim to the Visigoths at the end of the 5th century for refusing to renounce his faith: a fine legend!

Building on its rich past and heritage, Saint-Gaudens has become a dynamic and pleasant cultural centre.

The Saint-Gaudens campsite Le Moulin is ideally placed for a wide range of family and romantic outings. Come and discover all the charms of the Occitanie region and its capital, Toulouse.

A heritage full of historical monuments

A market town, it has a beautiful 10th and 12th century collegiate church dedicated to Saint-Pierre and Saint-Gaudens, situated on the road to Compostela. To the south of the town, the remains of a large Gallo-Roman villa dating from the 4th century can be seen in Valentine. The organ of the Collegiate Church of Saint-Gaudens: the current organ case dates from before 1662. It is a large massive oak and lime tree case, with Louis XIV style characteristics. It was classified as a historical monument in 1972 and 1980. The Eugène Azémar square, named in honour of the creator of the Grand Prix automobile du Comminges (1922-1952) is the town’s public garden.
