Martres is a magnificent small town with a double town wall and typical medieval charm.

The Saint Vidian Church is built on the site of an ancient early Christian necropolis

For centuries, it has been a popular stopping-off place for tradesmen, soldiers and people on their way to spa towns.

Amongst them were also many pilgrims on their way to Saint-Bertrand de Comminges or Santiago de Compostela.
